Cold-Weather Wanderlust: Where I Find Beach Gypsy Inspiration (From Boston to the Bahamas to Costa Rica)

When the temps drop back home, my wanderlust kicks in. Winter travel has become my favorite way to reset, soak up fresh energy, and come back to Beach Gypsy with a head (and heart) full of new ideas. Whether I’m bundled up exploring a city’s cultural treasures or barefoot on a beach with salty hair and a sun-kissed glow, every trip leaves little sparks of inspiration that show up in the boutique—through colors, textures, scents, and that free-spirited “you can do anything” feeling.

Boston: Culture, history, and cozy city magic

Boston in the colder months is pure charm—crisp air, warm coffee, and streets that feel like they’re telling stories. I loved wandering through museums and historic spots, soaking up the art, architecture, and the kind of timeless style that never goes out of season.

What I brought back to Beach Gypsy:

  • A deeper love for layering—cozy knits, scarves, and pieces that feel effortless but pulled together

  • Rich winter tones mixed with soft neutrals (think: blush, cream, and smoky grays)

  • The reminder that a little “old soul” energy can still feel totally modern

Tropical cruises: Sunshine therapy and easy-breezy inspiration

Then there are the trips that are basically sunshine in vacation form—tropical cruises where the days are slow, the sunsets are loud, and the only schedule is “beach first.” I love how cruising lets you hop into new places without losing that relaxed rhythm.

What I brought back to Beach Gypsy:

  • Lightweight, packable pieces that go from poolside to dinner

  • Bright pops of color that make you feel instantly happier

  • That “vacation glow” energy—because feeling good is always in style

The Bahamas: Island paradise and beach-hopping bliss

The Bahamas is the kind of place that makes you exhale the second you arrive. The water looks like a postcard, the beaches feel endless, and every little island vibe reminds me why Beach Gypsy is… well… Beach Gypsy.

And yes, I did what I always do: I visited all the beaches. Because I am, after all, The Beach Gypsy.

What I brought back to Beach Gypsy:

  • Sea-glass colors, sandy neutrals, and soft pink sunsets

  • Easy, flowy silhouettes that move with you

  • A renewed obsession with beachy accessories (the kind that make any outfit feel like a getaway)

Costa Rica: Adventure, culture, and a once-in-a-lifetime sailfish moment

Costa Rica was a whole different kind of magic—lush landscapes, bold flavors, and a culture that feels deeply connected to nature. I tried new foods, explored new places, and came home with that energized, adventurous feeling that only comes from doing something totally outside your routine.

One of the biggest highlights? I was honored to be on board with boating and fishing legend John Bayliss, and he made sure I caught my first Pacific sailfish. Talk about a moment I’ll never forget—equal parts adrenaline, gratitude, and pure joy.

What I brought back to Beach Gypsy:

  • A bigger appreciation for handcrafted details and natural textures

  • Inspiration from local markets, colors, and the way people celebrate the outdoors

  • The reminder to say yes to the adventure—even when it’s your “first time”

The real reason I love winter travel

Travel isn’t just about getting away—it’s about coming back better. New cultures, new foods, new beaches, new perspectives… they all shape the way I see the world, and they absolutely shape the vibe inside Beach Gypsy.

So if you’ve been feeling a little stuck or craving a spark, consider this your sign to plan a trip—big or small. Explore somewhere new. Try something you’ve never tried. Eat the local food. Talk to the locals. And if there’s a beach nearby? You already know where I’ll be.

See you back on Main Street soon—refreshed, inspired, and probably still dreaming about that Costa Rica sailfish.
